Demystifying the Call of a Prophet || a Round Table Discussion With Four Modern Day Prophets

THE MYSTERIOUS CALL OF A PROPHET

Have you ever felt like the odd one out? Maybe you’ve questioned if, for some reason, you were not made to be like the rest. Not because you feel any less valuable, but simply because you’re just different. It can feel isolating and even confusing. So, often I have prophets and highly prophetic people come to me with this very concern. They feel confused and misunderstood; often unaware that the “different” that they feel is simply the call that is on their life that needs to be surrounded by community, given guidance, and to be embraced.

Maybe you have questioned if you have been called to be a prophet. The call of a prophet can often feel like a mysterious box of mystical characteristics and religious rhetoric. Many people in the perplexity of their perspective have concluded that prophets must not be for today. So rather than a vibrant global Church walking in the fullness of the five-fold ministry pastors have been tasked to take on each role.

But, what would the Church look like if prophets stepped into their calling? What would become of the global Church?

I felt led in the preparation of School of the Prophets 2023 to have a conversation with a few of our School’s instructors, Dano McCollam, Hayley Braun, and Bethany Hicks. These three are not just dear friends, but faithful leaders in the prophetic, operating in the office of a prophet, and each carrying a unique component of catalytic change in culture. We sat down for a conversation to discuss discovering your role as a prophet, what the relevance of prophets looks like in current culture, and how to steward the calling throughout the different seasons of life.

A ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION WITH FOUR PROPHETS

I pray as you listen to this discussion you are filled with expectation for the Lord to move in a fresh way in culture, for prophets to rise to the scene and courageously stand in their calling, and for the young-wide-eyed prophet to inspire you with a fresh fire.

SCHOOL OF THE PROPHETS

Do you desire to stand boldly in dark places, for God’s power to move through you, and resound truth across the nations? The season has shifted. God is doing a new thing, and there is an invitation for His prophets to rise to the occasion; courageously and confidently standing in their calling. Save your spot for this year’s School of the Prophets, happening August 7-11, 2023. You can register for both in-person and online experiences here

Many of us have been misled into thinking that to love ourselves is a form of selfishness. Yet, what does Scripture really say? 'Love your neighbor as yourself'—this commandment from the Bible isn't just an instruction to love others but a divine mandate that ties our ability to love others to how much we cherish and accept ourselves. As we unpack this, let’s redefine what it truly means to love ourselves in the light of God's word, discovering how this self-love is not selfish but is actually the cornerstone of genuine relationships.

In a world more connected than ever through the internet and social media, the deep, authentic connection we all yearn for has become increasingly elusive. Created in God’s image, we instinctively desire to be known, loved, and belong, yet so many of us wrestle with invisible barriers that keep us isolated. What if the secret to breaking through these barriers lies not in more connections but in deeper, more meaningful ones with both God and others? How can we identify and overcome what prevents us from experiencing true connection in our daily lives?

In early December, I began seeking a prophetic word from the Lord for 2024. He told me, "I am not going to give you a word for 2024. Instead, I am going to give you a word for the Body of Christ for a new era." He explained that January 2024 would be a half-time; marking the closure of an era and the beginning of a new one. This period would be characterized by immense transition, culminating in the discipling of nations. A supernatural metamorphosis, metaphorically akin to a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly, would occur right before our eyes.
