Do you want to know what your purpose is in life? Then tell me who your enemies are. A person with no enemies is a person with no destiny! Your enemies fear you at the place of your destiny. Do you want to know where your destiny meets your opportunity? Listen to your enemies; they know your purpose better than you know it.
Let me be clear, your enemies don’t necessarily fear your strength; instead, they tend to fear you at your place of purpose.
Gideon is a great example of this. God called him to lead a small troop of 300 men against a large and powerful Midian army. But Gideon was terrified. So God told him to go down to the enemy’s camp and listen to what they were saying about him. Here’s the account:
“When Gideon came, behold, a man was relating a dream to his friend. And he said, “Behold, I had a dream; a loaf of barley bread was tumbling into the camp of Midian, and it came to the tent and struck it so that it fell, and turned it upside down so that the tent lay flat.” His friend replied, “This is nothing less than the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel; God has given Midian and all the camp into his hand.” When Gideon heard the account of the dream and its interpretation, he bowed in worship. He returned to the camp of Israel and said, “Arise, for the LORD has given the camp of Midian into your hands.” Judges 7:13-15
The same dynamic was at work in the demonic realm when Jesus walked the planet. Check it out:
“Just then there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, saying, “What business do we have with each other, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are-the Holy One of God!” And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!” Mark 1:23-25
You have to love your enemies! They are terrified that your destiny is their demise.
