WHO CAN LIVE A SUPERNATURAL LIFESTYLE?
There seems to be a lot of confusion over who should or can live a supernatural lifestyle. Here are a few things Jesus said about living supernaturally, which would include the gifts of the Spirit like prophesy. Mark 16:16-18 says, “He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Jesus said that BELIEVERS should have supernatural power that validates that God lives in them. He didn’t say, “These signs will follow 1st century Believers or some special Believers. Neither did He say that supernatural signs would accompany only leaders or Apostles…He said BELIEVERS. Here are five things that every Believer has authority over:
1. THEY WILL HAVE POWER OVER DEMONS.
2. THEY WILL HAVE A HEAVENLY LANGUAGE.
3. THEY WILL HAVE AUTHORITY OVER CREATION
(SERPENTS).
4. THEY WILL POWER OVER THE BIOLOGICAL ELEMENTS
(POISON).
5. THEY WILL HAVE AUTHORITY OVER SICKNESS.
In the Gospel of John, Jesus said, “Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.” (John 14:11-12)
Of course, the works that Jesus is pointing to that prove that God is working through Him are the miracles He performed. The disciples were already casting out demons and healing the sick. But Jesus said that they/we would be doing GREATER works than Him WHEN He went to be with the Father and the Spirit was poured out on us.
TWO WAYS TO READ THE BIBLE
Some might say He was speaking only to His 12 disciples, not to us. Do you realize much of the four Gospels that we insist are for us were spoken to his disciples?
So there are two ways to read the Bible. You can reduce the Bible to your experience OR you can use the Bible as your standard and change your experience to meet that standard.
