THE LAW OF FAITH
Have you ever considered the amount of faith needed in some of the commencing moments of the greatest catalytic inventions and most commemorated innovations of all time — electricity, airplanes, and the internet to name a few? Or maybe you’ve thought of how it felt in the very moment when the first airplane took off with success or electricity became a modern necessity; the sigh of relief and the breath of reprieve that met the scientists, thought leaders, and history makers after they had taken courageous steps into the unseen.
I’d propose that spiritual intelligence is of the very essence of taking heroic steps into the unknown. Yet, it is composed of eternal elements — it transcends memory, is beyond mere information, and exceeds academia. Spiritual intelligence is not just
knowing
, it is
becoming,
it is
transforming
, and it is a
force for change
that is working on us from the inside out. Spiritual intelligence is not just inspired ideas, creative thoughts, or ingenious inventions. Now, let me be clear, it is all of these things, but what makes spiritual intelligence life-changing, is that it is always catalyzed through relationship between God and His people.
The truth is as Believers we have a divine advantage - we are sanctified solutionaries with access to the thoughts of God by the power of the Holy Spirit. Consider Paul's teaching in 1 Corinthians: But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one.
For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.”
We have access to a level of wisdom that is inaccessible to those that don’t know God. However, how you access this level of wisdom is through the power of faith. Everything in the spirit realm works by the law of faith. Whether someone is working from the dark side (
the second heaven
) or from God’s spirit (the third heaven). Faith is the foundational element of everything in the spirit world.
In Hebrews, it says: “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1. Faith is the way that things transfigure from a spiritual, ethereal hypothesis into tangible form. Faith is the foundation of spiritual intelligence.
SO HEAVENLY MINDED THAT HE IS NO EARTHLY GOOD
You have more than likely heard the idiom, “that guy is so heavenly-minded that he is no earthly good.” The only reason this is true is that some spiritual people are dreamers with no faith — it requires faith to actualize dreams, and visions to overcome visible obstacles.
Do you remember when Jesus put His disciples into a boat and sent them to the other side of the sea? Later on, He came strolling out on the water in the midst of a bad storm. The guys saw Him; thought He was a ghost and pretty much freaked out. Jesus spoke to them, saying,
“Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.”
Peter suddenly had this brilliant idea; he yells
, “Lord if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
You have to admit the guy’s got guts, yet on the surface, Peter doesn’t ever seem to be the sharpest knife in the drawer! I mean, if a ghost can talk to you from the water, certainly he can tell you to “Come.” Yet Peter possesses a special kind of spiritual intelligence that’s rooted in faith and inspired by courage.
The rest of the story is powerful; Jesus shouted, “Come!” Peter, hearing the command above the howling wind and crashing seas, got out of the boat and walked on the water! I love that Peter refuses to be satisfied with spiritual principles that have no practical application. Instead, he gets out of the dang boat, while eleven theologians watch from the deck. This is it for me, someone actually steps out of the boat and attempts to walk on the sea! What good is spiritual intelligence if it has no purpose? I have observed that radical faith is so convicting to doubters, the lukewarm, the halfhearted, and the religious who have re-scripted the Bible to require them to live only in the realm of reason. The truth is you have to either be the next one out of the boat or find some spiritual excuse to relieve your cowardliness.
It’s a convicting invitation that was laid in front of us when Jesus paid the cost on the cross. The truth is,
this spiritual intelligence is not reserved for a select few prophets or "chosen ones." Instead, it's accessible for all Believers.
Now, the question is not whether you are gifted enough, but whether you are willing to step into all that Christ paid for.
Consider Peter’s words in 1 Peter 2:9: “
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
” Did you catch that? Peter isn’t simply pointing out sound theology here, he’s revealing our profound reality as chosen children of the King—
that we’ve been chosen, born for nobility, and we have purpose!
It is in your divine design to think as Christ — by the power of the Holy Spirit, you have access to the geniuses of all geniuses, scientist of all scientists, doctor of all doctors, and engineers of all engineers.
I want to encourage you this week if you have felt limited in your ability or hopeless in your circumstances to invite the Holy Spirit to speak into your situation and to give you heavenly solutions — He has the answers for the world's most pressing problems and critical circumstances.
