WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE WORLD AROUND US?
I do believe that we should love everybody, however, I do not want us to normalize sin!
If we normalize sin, our kids and grandkids will have to deal with a monster that should’ve been destroyed on our watch. Let me be clear — it’s not the people that are the monster, but rather the evil spirit who tells people the lies they embrace. Remember, God loves everyone and the devil hates all people. As soon as we start hating people, we begin working for the dark side.
Although the outlook may appear bleak, I propose that history will write about this moment in time. Not merely because of the story the devil wants to write, but because God is weaving His glorious redemption through those of us who will say yes to Him and partner with His divine interruptions!
BUT GOD HAS A PLAN
However, the Lord recently reminded me of Psalms 2:1-4 which says, “Why are the nations in an uproar and the peoples devising a vain thing? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers take counsel together against the LORD and against His anointed, saying, ‘Let us tear their fetters apart and cast away their cords from us!’ He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them.”
What does that mean? Yes, the devil has a plan for the world, but God thinks that plan is funny and even laughable.
He’s not worried about the enemy’s schemes because the truth is that He also has a plan. The question is, who will we partner with?
OUR COVENANT WITH GOD IS SUPPOSED TO BENEFIT THE WORLD
I’m reminded of the Ark of the Covenant in the Old Testament, which was a chest that held the very Presence of God. The Ark of the Covenant was taken to Obed-Edom’s house and blessed everything in his life and family (you can read this story in 2 Samuel 6). Today, God isn’t in a box! His Spirit is in YOU! What happened in Obed-Edom’s house for three months is happening in your house every day. The truth is, you were called to be blessed so you can be a blessing!
Our covenant with God benefits the world around us, whether they know it or not!
TIMING MATTERS
Let me explain it like this…The ancient Greeks had a dual concept of time: chronos and kairos. Chronos refers to clock time – time that can be measured in seconds, minutes, hours, and years. We use it in words like “chronological.”
The second ancient word for time is kairos. Kairos is qualitative. It measures moments, the right moment, the opportune moment…or even the perfect moment. Kairos moments occur when divine favor meets divine opportunity.
Remember that Jesus doesn’t live in time. In Genesis
, the Lord separated light and darkness and called it a day — through that act, God created chronos time. He fashioned time into existence, yet He lives in eternity — outside of time. The same is true for your spirit-man. In fact, you are an eternal being who lives outside of the confines of time with God! You are already seated in heavenly places and when you received Jesus Christ, you made a divine transition from a finite being to an infinite being. In that moment, you received eternal life and stepped into the timeless zone!
What I’m getting at is that we live day in and day out in chronos time and then, sometimes without warning, we get pulled into the vortex of eternity and experience the effects of infinity. There are special occasions in history when God overrides the will of man and creates a kairos moment! He makes a divine exception to the rule, defies the laws of physics, or interrupts the normal trajectory of history.
For example, God may put someone in power for the sake of four generations from now, not for what makes sense for today. We can see this kind of kairos intervention in the Bible when God called Nebuchadnezzar His servant, while most people considered him evil (Jeremiah 27:6). This occurrence may have baffled those who only viewed Nebuchadnezzar through a chronos lens, but with God-vision it’s possible to see this kairos intervention for what it is, and understand that God’s ways are higher than our ways.
1 Chronicles 12:32 speaks of the Sons of Issachar, who had God-vision to understand kairos moments. Not only that, they had supernatural knowledge of what Israel was supposed to do in those instances. Like the Sons of Issachar, God is calling us to be Kairos Conductors — to know the divine seasons and have acute spiritual wisdom for the appropriate action, act or attitude is in these times.
DON’T MISS THE KAIROS MOMENT!
Instead, we should keep our ears attuned to the Lord’s voice so that we notice when He interrupts time and space and does something extraordinary. Let us not get so caught up in what’s hip and miss what’s “trending in the Spirit.”
Here’s a practical example: You could make a chronos decision to buy a house and get a 30-year mortgage, which is normal and natural.
Or on the other hand, in the midst of a kairos moment, God may require you to believe Him for supernatural provision and a miracle mortgage-less house, paid in full by the Kingdom of heaven. In this example you would be faced with an invitation to partner with Him, to embrace the kairos moment, and to dare to be courageous and have faith that He will perform the miraculous.
The truth is, there is nothing wrong with the traditional, chronos way of purchasing a home. But sometimes, God wants to do something different! Receiving the benefits of a kairos moment will require you to step out of the way that you expect “it’s supposed to be done” and embrace His sovereign movement in your life!
When you start to sense a kairos moment in your life, stop the calendar sensitivity, get on the kairos ship, and ask Holy Spirit what you’re supposed to do in that moment
. Some of the tension lies in being in a kairos moment with chronos thinking. Thoughts come in like, “What is everyone going to think? If I act differently and embrace this decision that doesn’t make natural sense, will people think I’m crazy?” We’ve got to get rid of this thinking! Understand that chronos is okay, but usually catching a kingdom vortex requires doing something different, setting aside our earthly reasoning, and partnering our faith with the miraculous.
YOU’LL MISS THE KAIROS MOMENT IF YOU JUDGE BY CHRONOS TIME
Most of the time in life, God allows us to choose what we do out of our own free will. Yet, there are other times when He tells us what to do. In those moments, take note and understand the seriousness of things changing so you can get in the flow of heaven. I encourage you to use your spiritual eyes and ears to make sure you’re congruent with the seasons and times we are in.
Kairos moments are marked by three things. Be on the lookout for:
1) Acceleration
– Things that normally take years will happen suddenly. Just as Nehemiah only took 52 days to rebuild the city walls (Nehemiah 6:15), there will be supernatural grace to get things done quickly and even suddenly.
2) Unusual occurrences
– Things that never happen will occur against ridiculous odds. We see this in 1 Samuel 14:6-15 when the Lord delivered Israel by the hands of two very young men.
3) Supernatural interventions
– In this season, there will be things that come about in ways that make no earthly sense. We can see an example of this in Judges 6 and 7 when Gideon defeated a massive army with the simple sound of trumpets blowing and breaking of jars.
I believe that a hundred years from now they’ll write about this day we’re living in. God is moving! We’re about to see the things that some people said would never happen unfold before our very eyes.
Your partnership with this kairos moment and willingness to pay attention to God’s time instead of what may make sense in earthly time could alter the course of history! Remember, your covenant with God is supposed to be a blessing unto the world!
GET ETERNITY IN YOUR HEART
God looks at life from eternity and He knows the beginning and the end of the story. I pray today that the Lord would put eternity in your heart so that you will have grace to separate your opinion from His sovereign will. He may be shifting and moving things in ways that don’t make sense in chronos time. Again, He knows the beginning and the end.
